Publication of country profile for Ireland on European Platform for Investing in Children (EPIC) website

Ireland’s profile of the State’s investment in better outcomes for children has been uploaded to the European Commission’s website called European Platform for Investing in Children (EPIC). The profile now reflects the Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures, national policy framework for children and young people, and illustrates the national policy response as a multidimensional, outcomes-focussed approach to achieving specific goals and targets. The child-specific poverty target and activation agenda, are listed among the Government policy priorities for 2015.

The EPIC website is an evidence-based online platform that provides information about Member States policies and practices to implement the Commission’s Recommendation on ‘Investing in children: Breaking the cycle of disadvantage’. Member States are encouraged to share information on EPIC as to how State’s tackle child poverty and social exclusion through measures such as family support and benefits, quality childcare and early-childhood education.
