Persistent at-risk-of-poverty in Ireland: An Analysis of the Survey on Incomes and Living Conditions 2005-2008

This technical paper called ‘Persistent at-risk-of-poverty in Ireland: An Analysis of the Survey on Incomes and Living Conditions 2005-2008’ is the first longitudinal research on poverty based on an analysis of CSO SILC data.  This study examines poverty persistence in Ireland over a four year period – 2005 to 2008 - using the EU definition of the persistent at-risk-of-poverty rate (PAROP).  The results provide more information on the risk factors for persistent poverty, the composition of the persistently poor and provide a basis for comparative EU analysis.
