Promoting social inclusion for people with disabilities: national and European perspectives

Improving the social situation of people with disabilities is a key theme in National Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2007-2016 (NAPinclusion) and is also relevant to the Europe 2020 Strategy.

The Department of Social Protection, the National Disability Authority and the Economic and Social Research Institute organised a half-day national seminar to review the social and living conditions of people with disabilities and to debate policy responses at National and European levels. The seminar considered labour market barriers for people with disabilities and current policy responses to improve access to employment.

For web copies of the Report and research briefings, see our publications page here and for copies of speakers’ papers, see the ESRI events page here. The programme for the seminar is available here
